FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does Bikers Fighting Cancer make its money?
Bikers Fighting Cancer raises money through donations and product sales. We have t-shirts, hats, pins, small support patches and a few specialty items. We also receive money through membership dues, which are $100.00 per year.
What percentage of you money goes to the kids?
100%. Bikers Fighting Cancer takes the money that comes in and helps children and families we have located. Members pay out of their own pocket for expenses such as gas, lodging at events and meals. There is no reimbursement allowed under our By-Laws. We use some of the funds to purchase merchandise such as our t-shirts. These are sold at a mark up so we can generate more income.
Do you give the money raised to the hospitals?
No. When we help children or a family we actually go out and buy the items the child needs. If we were to give the money directly to the hospitals we lose control over how it is spent. We also are careful about giving cash directly to a family as we are concerned again that it may not be used in connection with the child.
How do you locate a child that needs your help?
Due to strict privacy laws we cannot get information through the hospitals. We rely on word of mouth. Usually someone hears of a child and/or family in need and they call us. Once we hear of someone in need we appoint a member to screen the family to insure that any assistance we give is used as it is intended.
Is your club open to all riders and all types of bikes?
Bikers Fighting Cancer consists of both men and women members. All types of Motorcycles are represented in our club. Metrics as well as US made. Cancer does not discriminate and neither do we.
Do I have to live in your area to become a member?
No. We continually invite all those who have the desire to help to join our cause. We currently have members in Washington State, Oregon, Iowa and Indiana. Chapters in an area can be created when there are 7 or more members in a certain location.
How much is membership?
Membership is $100.00 per year plus the initial cost of the patches, which is approximately $60.00. If you are married your spouse is automatically a member for the first $100.00. The only additional cost would be for the patches.
